MakerSpace

The MakerSpace is located downstairs in the Cottage, in the front playground. Established by Mr Harvey, using generous local donations from the Vivian Moon Foundation and the Fullabrook Trust, as well as offers of free and discounted help from local tradesman. The MakerSpace area used to be a classroom, that became available when a new classroom was built for Year 6 (Summer 2019). The room was divided into the MakerSpace and the Thrive Room.

MakerSpace Aim

The aim of a MakerSpace is to provide a facilty where children and adults can learn and practice new skills in the art of 'making'. The Caen Makerspace will provide the children with an opportunity to develop thier Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics  (STEM) skills, using physical materials (measuring, cutting, and joining), programming and 3D design / printing and physical computing (controlling real world electronics with programming).
